Add a little bit of water, boil it for 5 minutes, mix till smooth and serve. Oat fufu is enjoyed with soups such as Okra soup, Ewedu soup, Efo-riro or plain tomato stew.



Oat in soup: Sprinkle a table spoon of oat flour in to your soup to give it the desired thickness. And simmer for about 10 minutes.

As a young child, I didn’t really like oat and my mum always wanted us to have it because according to her, it was very good for our health. I would like to give it a try now though. I have never heard of “fufu” so that was new to me. From the description given I am not exactly sure how it is made or when to know if it is ready after cooking or even how to serve it.     1. Thanks Jack, fufu is an African meal. It could be made from various foods. This time it is made from oats. It is similar to making bread dough from flour but instead of baking it you boil it in water. Mix it smooth and serve.

It can help to aid breast feeding mothers with their milk supply, and making oatmeal nursing cookies as snacks can help ensure enough milk for their little ones.

  9. I’ve always had oatmeal for breakfast from time to time but never been a fan of it. With the nutrition facts you provided are very helpful. I also like other ideas of using oatmeal like an oatmeal smoothie and tofu. I will definitely give it a try sometime this week. Considering that it is high in AVA and fiber, I may as well include oatmeal in my diets from now on.

  10. I am a huge fan of oatmeal and have been for most of my life. There was a period, after growing up and leaving my parent’s house, where I would not touch oatmeal. The reason was my Mom used to insist that we eat oatmeal every day before school. I did that for years so in protest I quit eating it entirely for some years.

    That changed when I got married and we quickly had two beautiful little girls one after the other. Guess what? I started eating oatmeal again. I knew how good it was with the nutrition and the way it would make you feel full and ready for action each day. 

    You have added a lot of new ways to use oatmeal to get more of all that nutrition, and I have bookmarked the site because there are a couple of ideas I want to try at home!  These days I am pushing oatmeal on the grandkids, I am sure they think I am old-fashioned, but good nutrition never goes out of fashion I think.   13. To be honest I stopped eating Oats and after reading your Oatmeal Nutrition Facts post I realized I did a huge mistake.

    Planning to add it to my breakfast and thanks a lot for sharing the valuable information. I am astonished at the big lists of Oat health benefits.

    Reducing wait and hair loss seems to be a big problem many are struggling with but Oats provides solution for that with many other benefits.

    I gone through hernia operation and the doctors advised me to intake more fiber. I am shocked and happy to see “Oatmeal contains soluble and insoluble fiber. The combination of these fibers is a great help in bowel movement.”

  14. I’m a big fan of oatmeal, I know, lot’s of people call me crazy… 😉

    I use is every morning adding it to my healthy smoothie and it does make a big difference wheter or not I make it to lunchtime without getting hungry at around 10 AM.

    On weekends, one of my favorite recipes are oatmeal pancakes which are very easy to make and sometimes I even add chocolate chips to it. One word, delicious!
